Konoba Scala Santa

If you can only eat at one Restaurant in Kotor, Konoba Scala Santa is where you should go. The Konoba is tucked into the historic salate trg; which when translated means “Salad Square”. It was traditionally where residents would buy fresh fruits and vegetables.

Konoba Scala Santa is the oldest restaurant in Kotor, which was opened in 1931. It offers outdoor seating on it’s patio on the square and also an intimate dining experience inside the cozy Konoba.

The server was very friendly and he gave us tips on how to order in Montenegrin and a suggestion for the best place to go in town for ice cream after our meal.

We ordered the mixed meat plate for two, and it was enough food for a family of four! The meat plate consisted of chicken wrapped in pancetta with Gorgonzola sauce, pork brisket, and beef steak with mushroom sauté sauce. Each meat had its own distinct flavors and sauces, and each one equally mouthwatering.

The dish was served with roasted vegetables including potatoes, mushrooms, red bell peppers, onions, zucchini, and cherry tomatoes.

Konoba Scala Santa offers a large selection of fresh seafood as well.

For dessert, head to Moritz Eis, the best ice cream shop in town and conveniently located next door to Scala Santa.
